Excellent chaat dishes with great selections for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I've tried several dishes over several lunchtime visits and every single one is outstanding. Highly recommended. Go for the food & polite service, You will enjoy a great flavorful, fresh, and satisfying meal.

Chaat Cafe, super unassuming but great execution. We started with the dahi batata sev puri appetizer and also had butter chicken with garlic naan. Everything was cooked well and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Plenty of garlic on the naan and they used dark meat in the butter chicken! Definitely try this place out for affordable good eats.

It's been a long time since I came here because I no longer live in the area, but was back in my old neighborhood and decided to stop here for dinner. My husband and I ordered the chicken tikka plate and the spicy seekh plate so we could share. Both meats were delicious as was the fluffy rice. The lentil soup was perfectly spiced, and the garlic naan had lots of garlic and was absolutely delicious. I'm going to say one of the best naans I've ever had! The cucumber side was refreshing as well. Even better than the delicious meal was that it was a great value! We will absolutely make a point of coming back here to try more things. The gentlemen working here were also very nice and professional.

Really great Indian food that's quick and easy on the wallet. It was quite crowded on a Friday evening and we ordered at the counter, butter chicken, chicken vindaloo, veggie pakora, and papri chaat. The papri chaat was refreshing from the yogurt and loved the combination with the chickpeas. The chips do get soggy a bit quick though. The veggie pakora came out nice and hot, and it was interesting to have it in the chickpea batter. Really good appetizer. I do wish the curries came out a little hotter in temperature, and the butter chicken was fine, but a bit too tomato sauce like for my taste. The vindaloo was great, our favorite of the two, though didn't have any heat like we thought it would from the menu description. Naan was also very good, and liked that you could pick up sides of sauces at the counter. All in all, a very good meal and will be back again!

The weekday lunch specials are great deals, healthy, and fill you up. I believe it's from 12pm-3:30pm, but don't quote me on that. The veggie of the day last Thursday was cauliflower with potato in a yellow curry, and it was served with naan. So flavorful and delicious. The Cholay Batura had a chickpea dip with an addicting, fluffy bread. It was my favorite dish out of the ones we ordered just because the bread. We also got a chicken wrap that had bbq chicken and veggies in it. It was good too. The employees were nice and answered any questions we had about the dishes. The water is self serve from a filtered water dispenser. There are mint chutney and tamarind sauces available too. I'll definitely be back for lunch!

Still on my search for good butter chicken in my area...next stop: Chaat Cafe. Ordering was easy through the phone. Butter chicken came with choice of rice or naan. Overall taste: good not great, okay amount of chicken. Not too tomato-y as some of the other butter chicken I've had in south SJ. Naan was light and chewy, paired well with the butter chicken. Good price, serving size for 1. Parking is plentiful in the plaza.

I was happy with my two wraps from Chaat Cafe - one chicken, one paneer. Happy. Not "very happy". The chicken one was better, so if you're not vegetarian definitely get that. For about $10 with tax, it's a lot of chicken, a good amount of sauce keeping things moist, and a well constructed wrapper that didn't get soggy. One of the better "turn curry and naan into a burrito" foods I've had. Small complaint - the cucumber is unwanted. I don't hate cucumber but warm, in large chunks, in a naan burrito (naarito?) it isn't very good. I'd prefer smaller or replace it with onions or something. The paneer wrap was similarly constructed, but suffered from uneven sauce distribution, making one half seem dry. But thanks to the huge amount of mint-cilantro chutney and tamarind chutney, that was addressable. Also, like the chicken wrap, it's dense and good size, definitely provides value for money. So aside from some small issues, the big elephant in the room - where is the heat? My expectation when I ask for extra spicy, and then say "super-super spicy", and add "make it as spicy as possible", is that the food will actually be spicy. This was below medium spicy. I came here because Indian cuisine, like Thai, Mexican, and Sichuan, is known for being legitimately spicy. So stressing that I want my face to melt and getting Chipotle-level heat was disappointing. Overall I'd come back because the quality is good, the value is great, it's quick, they take credit cards, easy parking, etc. And let's be honest, this is a culinary dead zone when it comes to Indian food. But I am going to tell them next time that I expect to be breathing fire after 1 bite.

Gavin wanted Indian so I Yelped what is near and where we have not been. I'll admit that Gavin doesn't care about my food adventure-seeking habits, but he can hopefully use it when he gets older! How his cool mom took him to all these places! The place opens at 11:30 and it can get busy. The food does come out quite fast, but still... if you are in a hurry then I would suggest coming here before noon. The food is served on plates, but your actual plates which you will be eating from are paper plates. There is chutney and another sauce (I didn't catch what it was) at the front, portioned out in those condiment cups. They have pitchers of water by the front where the napkins and utensils are at, too. They have a water station at the front, too. We ordered the keema naan, chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, and the chocolate treat for Gavin. Every time an order is placed, you can hear them yelling it out to the BOH. It was a bit off-putting because we weren't sure if it's because that's how they treat people or if that's how they need to communicate. Nonetheless, the food arrived hot and w/ patience written all over the gentleman that brought our dishes out. They were getting busy, so he was moving at a swift pace. Let's just say that everything we ordered tasted wonderful. Both of us cannot wait to return.

My friend and I arrived at the restaurant at 6 pm on a Wednesday evening for dinner. I rarely get Indian, so I was looking forward to the experience. PARKING: This plaza is notorious for its tight parking spots and business since there's a lot of fedex trucks doing deliveries to the store. So, be careful in driving! I managed to find parking that was about 5 minutes walking distance. AMBIENCE: The place has a nice modern aesthetic with some hominess. I like the natural light that comes from the clean windows. It's a nice setting for families, friends, and solo diners to come in. The place was steadily with people but not packed itself. SERVICE: The service was quite fast from kitchen to table in about 10 minutes of waiting. The staff deliver the food to you and you can grab your own utensils, napkins, napkins in the front. The cashier made a mistake on my order since he was under training but his senior addressed the issue and reassured me about the consistency of my order. ORDERS: I ordered the Butter Chicken Dinner that comes with sides of naan, rice, and dal! I didn't know what dal was until I looked it up; it had a nice texture of being a creamy paste but it wasn't for me. Tasted alright though, just not fitting for my palette. The naan serving was about 2 large pieces that were paired well with the leftover sauce from the butter chicken. The butter chicken was the star of the dinner with its rich deep orange hue and large portions of diced chicken. The chicken was drenched in sauce and made it so much more flavorful and tender. Overall, a fulfilling dinner that had me stuffed! RATING: nice place for Indian food that I would come back to!
